Join the music at Mezz!

Music venue Mezz concerts & dance is at the heart of Breda’s pop scene. Designed specifically as a music venue, Mezz’s remarkable city centre building immediately catches the eye.

The main auditorium holds 650 music lovers; the café’s capacity is 100. Each year, more than 250 concerts and dance nights take place. Rock, hip hop, blues and pop all have their place in Mezz’s schedule, as do house, and techno. Other less mainstream genres such as electro, punk and folk als feature regularly.

Mezz Cafe

Open every day, the Mezz café is the meeting place for (live) music lovers and musicians to talk about concerts and rehearsals. Each week, free concerts are scheduled and summer brings live performances in the relaxed outdoor area.

Architecture and blueprint

Contemporary and countercultural, those terms signify Mezz’s architecture. Architect Erick van Egeraat has united the main hall’s new structure with the former Chassé Barracks’ old officers’ mess. On the outside, Mezz is an organic copper structure, featuring round and dynamic shapes. These are carried through on the inside.

The building’s old wing features the café, rehearsal spaces, toilets, cloakroom and offices. The new wing, sometimes referred to as the shell, contains the auditorium, dock shelter, dressing rooms and the foyer.
